Insignia are cheap!

The are huge quantities of cheap insignia available on the Trading Post.  It’s almost as if people didn’t know they could use them to discover new recipes and just grinded them out.  That was foolish and expensive on their part.  But you can take advantage of it!

Prior to buying Fine Crafting Material, select the insignia you wish to craft from the Production Tab of the Craft Window and right click on the insignia picture.  This will take you to the Trading Post and show you items for sale.

You can do the same thing to check the current price of Fine Crafting Materials from the Production Tab or from inside your Bank Collections Tab.

As a general rule, if the insignia is 1sp or less, it is an amazing deal and you should use buy the insignia from the trading post rather than crafting it yourself.  Though for high tier insignia, 4sp might still be a deal.  You’ll just have to check.

  • For each Fine Insignia (blue) you buy, reduce the amount of cloth scraps you need by 2 and the corresponding fine mat by 3.
  • For each  Masterwork Insignia (green) you buy, reduce the amount of cloth scraps you need by 2, (10) spool buys by one half and corresponding fine mats by 8.

Hello, I love your guides and have used all of them but with the new tailoring one and the insignia that are bought from the trading post, wouldn’t you lose exp and levels because you are not crafting them? And if so how do you counteract it?

    Thanks

The chance that you will have to do an additional craft to get to the next step increases for each insignia you buy instead of craft. But the amount of experience from crafting an insignia is quite low. For my tests, I didn’t have to do an additional crafts.
